Project Overview
A coordinated package of aluminium glazing in Buckinghamshire was specified throughout this contemporary new-build home. Sieger Systems supplied sliding doors, bifold doors, casement windows and casement doors across both storeys, with clear glass balustrading integrated at the master-bedroom elevation.
All visible aluminium was finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, providing a consistent frame colour against the red-brick exterior. The glazing package increases daylight, creates direct access to the garden and pool, and maintains the same slim aluminium language across openings with different functions.
Project Challenges
Aluminium glazing in Buckinghamshire across a two-storey new build
The project required several door and window systems to be coordinated across a large residential envelope. Ground-floor living spaces needed wide openings to the garden and pool, while the upper floor required a varied arrangement of windows and doors for daylight, ventilation and balcony access.
Each opening had a different functional requirement, but the completed elevations needed to remain visually consistent. The bifold doors, sliding doors, casement windows and casement doors therefore had to align through their frame proportions, finish and relationship with the surrounding brickwork.
At first-floor level, the master-bedroom doors also required compliant guarding without introducing an opaque balcony edge that would interrupt daylight or views. The glazing strategy needed to resolve this safety requirement while retaining a full-height glazed appearance.
Project Solutions
Bifold, sliding and casement systems within one facade language
A three-pane aluminium bifold door was installed at the rear of the ground-floor gym. The folding configuration allows the opening to be substantially cleared, providing direct access to the rear garden and pool area. A flush threshold reduces the level change between the gym and external space, supporting a more continuous transition when the doors are open.
Slim sliding doors were used across the principal ground-floor living areas. Their reduced frame sightlines maximise the glazed area and maintain garden views when closed, while the sliding operation provides practical access without requiring door leaves to project into the internal or external space.
Aluminium casement windows and doors were installed throughout the upper storey in configurations selected to suit the daylight, ventilation and access requirements of individual rooms. At the master bedroom, full-height casement doors were combined with a clear glass balustrade to form a Juliet balcony, providing guarding while maintaining views through the glazed opening.
The complete aluminium package was finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. This shared finish ties together the different opening types and complements the red-brick exterior, allowing the varied glazing systems to read as one coordinated architectural specification.
Project Highlight
The master-bedroom casement doors are integrated with a clear glass balustrade to create a Juliet balcony. This arrangement provides compliant guarding at first-floor level while preserving daylight, outward views and the full-height proportions of the glazed opening.

Performance considerations
The aluminium glazing in Buckinghamshire balances wide ground-floor openings with controlled ventilation, guarding and weather performance across the upper storey. Sliding and bifold systems provide different methods of garden access, allowing each opening to respond to its available space and daily use.
The Sieger Slim Sliding Doors use 20mm vertical junctions to maximise the clear glazed area while providing tested resistance to air infiltration, driving rain and wind loading. Their sliding operation also avoids the clearance requirements associated with hinged or folding leaves.
Casement doors and windows introduce controlled opening ventilation to the upper rooms. At the master bedroom, the glass Juliet balustrade provides the required safety barrier without introducing a visually solid element across the opening.
RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey was used throughout the aluminium package, giving the different door and window systems a consistent, low-maintenance finish. The result is a coherent external envelope that provides daylight, access and ventilation while maintaining the contemporary character of the new build.
Sieger’s conclusion
Barrington Park Gardens demonstrates how aluminium glazing in Buckinghamshire can be coordinated across a contemporary two-storey home with varied access, ventilation and guarding requirements. Bifold doors open the gym to the pool and garden, slim sliding systems serve the principal living spaces, and casement glazing provides flexible openings across the upper floor.
This approach is suited to architects, designers and developers specifying multiple aluminium systems within one residential project, particularly where consistent frame finishes and coordinated facade detailing are required.
