Project Overview

Meadow House is a luxury contemporary replacement home in Essex, designed by Ström Architects to sit within its landscaped setting and maintain direct visual connections to the surrounding countryside. Sieger Systems supplied a coordinated package of aluminium windows and doors in Essex, using slim casement glazing to increase daylight, frame panoramic views and provide practical access and ventilation.

Bespoke aluminium casement doors were installed throughout the study, gym and utility areas, with matching casement windows used in key locations across the wider house. All visible frames were finished in RAL 7016 Matt, establishing a consistent glazing language within the property’s restrained, minimal architecture.

Project Challenges

Aluminium windows and doors in Essex for a landscape-led replacement home

The glazing package needed to support the architectural relationship between the house and its rural setting without introducing visually heavy framing across the elevations. Large areas of glass were required to capture landscape views and increase natural light, but each opening also needed to respond to the practical requirements of its room.

The study, gym and utility areas required opening doors that could provide access and ventilation while maintaining the clean profiles of the wider facade. Elsewhere, windows needed to frame selected views, support controlled airflow and preserve the minimalist appearance established by Ström Architects.

The systems also had to provide the thermal performance, security and durability expected within a high-specification replacement home. Frame proportions, opening configurations, hardware and colour therefore needed to be coordinated as one glazing package rather than specified as unrelated elements.

Project Solutions

Coordinated casement glazing for daylight, views and access

Sieger Casement Doors were designed to suit the individual openings within the study, gym and utility spaces. Their slim aluminium framing maximises the glazed area within each aperture, allowing daylight and outward views to remain the dominant features while providing practical hinged access.

Matching Sieger Casement Windows were introduced at key positions throughout the house. Slim profiles and concealed hardware reduce visual interruption around the glass, keeping attention on the landscape rather than the opening mechanisms. Opening window elements also provide controlled natural ventilation without disrupting the wider elevation design.

Both the doors and windows were manufactured to the project’s opening requirements and finished in RAL 7016 Matt. This consistent colour treatment connects the separate glazing elements across the house and complements the darker external materials used within the contemporary architecture.

Project Highlight

The casement doors and windows were developed as one coordinated aluminium package, with consistent slim profiles and a shared RAL 7016 Matt finish. This allows openings serving different rooms and functions to retain the same disciplined visual language across the property.

Performance considerations

The aluminium windows and doors in Essex combine large glazed areas with thermally broken framing, supporting internal comfort while maintaining the minimal profiles required by the architectural brief. The casement doors provide tested resistance to air infiltration, driving rain and wind loading, alongside secure and durable operation.

Opening casement doors and windows support natural ventilation in the study, gym, utility and other occupied areas. Fixed and opening glass areas were balanced according to each room’s access, airflow and outlook requirements, rather than applying one standard configuration throughout the house.

The RAL 7016 Matt finish provides a consistent and low-maintenance external treatment across the glazing package. Together, the slim framing, opening elements and large glass areas strengthen the visual connection between the interiors and the surrounding landscape without compromising practical performance.

Sieger’s conclusion

Meadow House demonstrates how aluminium windows and doors in Essex can be coordinated across a luxury replacement home to balance natural light, framed views, ventilation and access. The approach is suited to architects and designers working on contemporary residential projects where multiple casement configurations must support different room functions while retaining a consistent facade language.
