Project Overview
Beechcroft is a new build home using aluminium doors and windows in Hertfordshire to bring daylight into the main living spaces while maintaining privacy where required. Sieger Systems supplied a coordinated glazing package including floor-to-ceiling aluminium door openings, aluminium casement windows, large gable windows and slim framed aluminium casement doors. The glazing strategy supports the central design aim of balancing natural light, garden views and privacy across a contemporary family home.
Project Challenges
Aluminium doors and windows in Hertfordshire for a light-led new build
The design challenge was to create a new home that felt open and naturally bright without losing the sense of enclosure needed for private residential spaces. Aluminium doors and windows in Hertfordshire were used throughout the project to control how light entered each room, from larger openings to the patio and garden areas to shaped gable glazing in the upper floor. Instead of relying on one large glazed feature, the project uses a series of coordinated glazing elements to manage daylight, outlook and privacy across the whole house.
The homeowners also wanted the glazing to feel contemporary without appearing visually heavy. Slim aluminium framing was therefore used to maintain clear sightlines, while powder coated finishes allowed the window and door systems to sit consistently within the wider architectural palette.
Project Solutions
Floor-to-ceiling door openings for garden access
Floor-to-ceiling aluminium doors were used to connect the main living areas with the patio and garden. This solved the access and daylight challenge at ground floor level, allowing the home to open out to the external spaces while keeping the glazing appearance slim and controlled. Slim framed aluminium casement doors were also used where hinged access was required, giving the project secure, weather-resistant openings without moving away from the clean aluminium design language.
Gable windows and casement glazing for upper-floor daylight
Large gable windows were installed in the loft room to address a darker, shaded part of the house. This brought daylight into the upper floor and turned the space into a brighter, more usable room. Aluminium casement windows were used throughout the wider new build design, with smaller opening elements providing ventilation while fixed and shaped sections maintained uninterrupted views. The result is a controlled glazing strategy where each opening responds to the light, privacy and ventilation requirements of its room.
End Result
Performance considerations
The glazing package needed to combine high daylight levels with security, weather resistance and day-to-day usability. Aluminium casement doors provide robust access points with thermally broken framing, high security and weather performance, while aluminium casement windows introduce controlled ventilation through slim opening sections. The use of shaped gable glazing supports daylight at upper level without requiring large, exposed openings on every elevation. Together, the aluminium doors and windows in Hertfordshire create a consistent specification across the new build, supporting comfort, privacy and visual cohesion
Sieger’s conclusion
Beechcroft shows how aluminium doors and windows in Hertfordshire can be used as a coordinated architectural glazing package rather than a series of isolated openings. This approach is well suited to new build homes where architects and specifiers need garden access, upper-floor daylight, controlled ventilation and consistent slim aluminium framing across multiple elevations.
